Here are the three biggest questions Dallas Cowboys’ training camp will answer

Unlike anytime in NFL history, 2020 will be different. A virtual offseason training program due to a worldwide pandemic has guaranteed that. Now, the news that the league will apparently not hold any preseason games continues to make this year one of the most bizarre ever for football fans.

Yet, despite the obstacles, the Dallas Cowboys have still found ways to dominate headlines. That’s due in large part to near non-existent contract negotiations with quarterback Dak Prescott that unsatisfyingly ended with the franchise tag.

But just as that storyline comes to an end (just postponed), more arise for the Cowboys. With training camp gearing up at The Star in Frisco with COVID-19 tests taking place on Thursday for some players, here are the three biggest questions that will be debated and ultimately answered in the coming weeks.

Who will replace Travis Frederick at center?

For years, the Cowboys had one of the most dominate offensive line trios in the NFL. Left tackle Tyron Smith, right guard Zack Martin, and center Travis Frederick were all perennial Pro Bowlers and the envy of every offense in the league.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys could never take true advantage of their combined greatness, winning just a single playoff game during their five-year stretch together. Although Dallas did record another postseason victory in 2018, they did so without Frederick who missed that entire season due to an autoimmune disease.

And despite returning to Pro Bowl form last year, the 29-year old Frederick opted to retire this offseason. The Cowboys have seemingly three candidates to replace him in Joe Looney, 2018 third-rounder Connor McGovern, or rookie Tyler Biadasz. The winner of this battle could impact the offensive line for years to come.
