The Cardinals received Thursday off from their virtual team meetings to honor the memory of George Floyd, running back Kenyan Drake said on Twitter.
The death of Floyd in police custody on May 25 in Minneapolis has set off nationwide protests and fervent conversations about race relations. The first of three memorials for Floyd will be held on Thursday afternoon at North Central University in Minneapolis.
“We are but a small cog in a big machine but gestures like these create dialogue and expands the vision to help take the next steps for a better tomorrow,” Drake said on Twitter. “Peace and love.”
