The Kansas City Chiefs proved just how much they look forward to the challenge of the 2021 season by using Andy Reid quotes to announce the schedule.
Some NFL teams absolutely nailed their schedule release strategy on social media. The Chargers compared their opponents to Pop-Tarts. The Colts enrolled Peyton Manning as an intern.
The Chiefs were up there with the best of them.
You could say they were up to the challenge.
Coach speak is what it is. Turning it into a schedule release is outstanding work from the Kansas City social media team.
Who needs guest stars or production frills when you’ve got Andy Reid deadpanning the same line in press conference after press conference?
Andy Reid and the Chiefs are ready for the challenge in 2021
Reid will get a shot at facing his former team in October when the Chiefs travel to Philadelphia to play the Eagles. Kansas City last played Philadelphia at Arrowhead in 2017. This will be his first time back at Lincoln Financial Field since his debut season with the Chiefs in 2013. KC came away with a 26-16 victory in that game.
The storyline for that one will definitely be interesting, but Reid will have bigger fish to fry this season. The Chiefs are trying to bounce back from their Super Bowl LV defeat to the Buccaneers.
Patrick Mahomes has a rebuilt offensive line in front of him and most of the same weapons that helped him take the team to the Super Bowl in the first place. They’ll have to make it through 17 games this year, including an intriguing QB battle with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers in November, to position themselves for a playoff run.
It all starts with the Browns on Sept. 12 and ends with the Broncos on Jan. 9. If Reid wants to carry this through, look for him to start each media appearance with his catchphrase.
