With the release of Madden 22 on Friday, the Dallas Cowboys received one of the best overall ratings in the game. They were given a 86 overall which places them as the seventh-best team to use in Madden.

Furthermore, they received a 88 overall on offense. This unit ranks as the fifth-best offense to use in the game behind the Kansas City Chiefs (96), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (92), Green Bay Packers (91), and Cleveland Browns (89).

With quarterback Dak Prescott back under center for America’s Team, this rating seems to be accurate. Last season with Prescott in five games, the Cowboys averaged 32.6 points per game. As a result, placing them this high in the game could be justified.

On the other side of the ball, the Dallas Cowboys were given a 76 overall on defense. Unlike the offense, this defensive rating is towards the bottom of the league. In the game, Dallas ranks as the 25th defense behind teams like the Philadelphia Eagles (76), Seattle Seahawks (77), and Kansas City Chiefs (78).

Even though a 76 overall for the Dallas Cowboys defense could be too high to some, this rating is probably the perfect one. Yes, this unit was extremely awful last season, finishing bottom five in almost every category.

Nevertheless, Dallas added plenty of pieces this offseason which probably makes this group much improved on Madden. Players like linebacker Micah Parsons (75), safety Malik Hooker (79), linebacker Keanu Neal (77), and even Damontae Kazee (77) bring that defensive overall up tremendously.

From the looks of it, Madden appears to get Dallas’ offensive and defensive ratings correct. However, many players were rated too low on the first initial release.
