Giants’ Daniel Jones will benefit greatly from...

New York Giants star running back Saquon Barkley is back and no one at training camp should be happier than third year quarterback Daniel Jones.

Why? Because Barkley’s presence makes Jones a better player — a much better player.

According to stats provided by the NFL Network, Jones averages 265.0 yards per game passing with Barkley on the field as opposed to 209.9 yards per game without him. With Barkley in uniform, Jones’ touchdown-to-interception ratio is 21-8. It’s 14-14 when Barkley is sidelined.

In addition, Jones’ passer rating is 92.0 with Barkley behind him. Without Saquon, it’s 78.9 so just having Barkley back on the field is going make DJ a better player. Throw in all of the new faces and weapons and that is why the Giants are so excited for Jones’ — and their offense’s — prospects this year.

Barkley and Jones only have a record of 2-8 when they have both been on the field together for the entire game but that can’t be blamed solely on the offense. They clearly clicked in Jones’ rookie year. Last year, the Giants averaged 17.5 points per game. In the 10 games that Jones and Barkley started together, the Giants offense averaged 22.5 PPG.
