Giants’ Dave Gettleman maintains emphasis on...

Minutes after new head coach Joe Judge told reporters that his New York Giants would return to a physical and aggressive style of football, general manager Dave Gettleman backed him up by stating that teams that run the football well and stop the run well have a good chance of winning, especially late in the season.

Gettleman is correct. The top four rushing teams in the NFL — Baltimore, San Francisco, Tennessee and Seattle — are all in the postseason and will play this weekend. In fact, Baltimore and the 49ers both have home field advantage throughout the playoffs this year.

In his press conference on Thursday, Judge emphasized the Giants would do what it takes to win and that the only culture he knows is a winning one.

With Saquon Barkley on the roster, if he wants to run the football, he’s got the right guy. Now all the Giants need to is block better for him and find a solid No. 2 back.

On the opposite side of the ball, they’ll continue building their defensive line and add linebackers to stop the run and make the game more one-dimensional. From there, it’ll be on the development of their secondary to stop the pass.
