The New England Patriots picked up their first win of the year this past Sunday, as they demolished the Jets 25-6 on the road.
Victories don’t come much easier than that, and the Patriots will face a tougher test in Week 3 when they play host to the Saints, who just got blown out by the Panthers after they thrashed the Packers in Week 1.
New Orleans is a well-coached team, but they’re dealing with a rash of injuries right now and Jameis Winston is one of the most erratic quarterbacks in the league. To put it simply, nobody knows the Saints’ ceiling is right now.
The same can probably be said about the Patriots, so let’s see what the odds are saying about their chances to pick up another win.
Patriots vs Saints Odds Week 3
WynnBET’s Week 3 NFL odds have the Patriots as three-point favorites. They’ll have +100 odds to cover the -3 spread (bet $100 to win $100). The Saints, meanwhile are -120 to cover +3 (bet $120 to win $100).
On the money line, the Patriots are -150 (bet $150 to win $100) and the Saints are +130, which is pretty good value. The over/under, on the other hand, is set at 43 points, with both sides checking in at -110 odds.
Patriots vs Saints Prediction Week 3
The Saints have a talented roster, but Winston proved in Week 2 against a middling Carolina defense — he went 11-of-22 for 111 yards and zero touchdowns to two interceptions — that he’s still the same QB he was in Tampa Bay.
Winston struggles in a collapsing pocket, so if New England is able to generate some pressure, it could be a fun day out for the defense. As for the offense, if Josh McDaniels opens up the playbook a little bit for Mac Jones, we see no reason why the Patriots shouldn’t win and cover on Sunday.
New England wins 24-17.
