Pete Carroll gives status updates on Rashaad Penny...

In the wake of the Seattle Seahawks’ 28-21 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 11, Pete Carroll joined 710 ESPN Seattle for his morning show on Friday and discussed the status of running back Rashaad Penny and defensive end Darrell Taylor.

Carroll stated that there is a chance the two can make it back to practice Week 12 against the Philadelphia Eagles, but there is no guarantee for either of them.

“Yes, there is a hope,” Carroll said. “I’m kinda counting on Darrell, I’m not sure about Rashaad yet if this is the week, but it’s only another week away if not this week.”

Carroll expressed particular enthusiasm and optimism about Taylor as a player, citing his physicality and the workouts the head coach has observed from him.

“Wait until you see Darrell and see what he can add to us,” Carroll said. “We haven’t seen him on the practice field yet, but knowing what he is, watching him work out, seeing the kind of athlete he is and his mentality, he’s a really bright football player (and) I think he’s gonna have a chance to help us soon, as soon as he gets out there.”

The same day, Carroll noted the possibility of Chris Carson returning in Week 12 based on observations.

The Seahawks will lead the NFC West by the end of the week if the  Buccaneers defeat the Rams on “Monday Night Football.” In the meantime, they will enjoy a mini-bye until they play the Eagles on MNF next week.
