PFWA names Packers QB Aaron Rodgers its 2020 MVP



GREEN BAY – The Pro Football Writers of America has chosen Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers as its Most Valuable Player in the NFL for 2020.

Rodgers previously the PFWA’s MVP award following the 2011 and 2014 seasons, tying him with Tom Brady for the second most in the history of the PFWA’s MVP honor. The AP honor, which is considered the NFL’s official award, will be announced the night before Super Bowl LV.

The 16-year veteran quarterback started all 16 games this season, completing 372 of 526 passes (70.7%) for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns with five interceptions.

Rodgers’ 121.5 passer rating was the second-best single-season mark in league history behind only his 122.5 rating in 2011. He set single-season franchise records for passing TDs and completion percentage.

He led the NFL this season in passer rating, passing TDs, completion percentage and interception percentage (0.95), the first QB to lead the NFL in all four categories since Steve Young in 1992.

Tennessee running back Derrick Henry and Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald were named the PFWA Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.
