Unless you’re feeling particularly masochistic, do yourself a favor and avoid looking at pictures of Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski in Bucs uniforms.
If you’re still not over the shocking revelation that Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski will be playing together again in the NFL in 2020 — just for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, not the New England Patriots — you’re certainly not alone.
It would have been a brutal pill to swallow at any point in history, but it’s especially gut-wrenching since it’s happening now in the midst of a global pandemic that has essentially put all live sports in this country on ice. Whereas normally we’d be able to distract ourselves from sad NFL developments with the NBA Finals or the start of baseball season, we have neither as of yet.
Instead, all we can do is continue following the coverage surrounding whether or not all these leagues will resume/start their seasons anytime soon … as well as coverage surrounding the Patriots and their offseason to end all offseasons.
It’s certainly not every day that your greatest player in franchise history walks out the door and joins another team. It’s also not every day that one of your other greatest players in franchise history un-retires to join him.
We all have been suffering these developments since March when Brady officially announced he wouldn’t be returning to New England for a 21st season.
Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski seem thrilled with their new get-ups … BARF
But now, to add insult to injury, the Buccaneers are hyping up their fans by releasing photo shoots of their two new stars in brand-new Tampa Bay uniforms.
We don’t blame the Bucs or their fans for getting excited about these photos. We don’t even blame Brady or Gronkowski for getting excited about what they’re wearing and how they look in the images either.
That all being said, there’s nothing that says we need to look at any of these photos ourselves as diehard New England Patriots fans still going through a period of mourning.
If there is a regular season in the fall, we’ll have to come to grips with seeing Brady and Gronk in those pewter and red clothes at some point. Until then, why put ourselves through any more heartache and despair?
Just don’t say we didn’t warn you.
