Steelers waste no time replacing David DeCastro,...

After releasing veteran guard David DeCastro on Thursday, the Steelers have signed Trai Turner to take his place on the offensive line.

Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert is a man who likes to work fast. Earlier in the day, a surprising decision came out of Heinz Field, with the team releasing starting right guard David DeCastro. Now, the team already has his replacement.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, the Steelers have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran lineman Trai Turner. A five-time Pro Bowler, Turner will now head to the AFC North to protect Ben Roethlisberger.

The Steelers recently brought in Turner for a free-agent visit, with things going over the top on Thursday. Checking in at 6-foot-3, 315 pounds, Turner spent the first six years of his career with the Carolina Panthers, playing in the Pro Bowl five times.

Last season, Turner was only able to play in nine games due to a groin injury, but he’s back to full health and ready to rock in 2021. He’ll now be suiting up for his third team in the Pittsburgh Steelers, with him heading to a prime AFC powerhouse.

The Steelers are of course motivated to bounce back after last year’s rough postseason loss to the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card Round. Bringing in Turner will provide the offensive line with another veteran presence, while also securing one of the best guards in the game in recent years.

While the DeCastro news was a bit of a bummer, as he may have to retire due to injury, signing Turner sure has fans fired up. Countless folks can’t wait to see him in action once Week 1 rolls around.
