NFL Offseason – Wide receivers continue to get paid. Today it is Washington’s Terry McLaurin, who signed a three-year, $71-million extension with $53 million guaranteed and a record $28 million signing bonus. This adds three years onto his current contract, keeping him in Washington through 2025 and making him one of the league’s top five highest paid wide receivers.
McLaurin does not do well in our advanced stats because DVOA and DYAR do not try to separate the receivers from the quarterbacks, and he’s had lousy quarterbacks. But you can see his value when you consider how his DVOA differs from the other Washington receivers despite the fact that McLaurin has volume production and draws all the coverage attention.
2019: McLaurin 18.9% DVOA, all other Washington WR -21.5% DVOA.
2020: McLaurin -11.0% DVOA, all other Washington WR -18.9% DVOA.
2021: McLaurin 0.8% DVOA, all other Washington WR -8.8% DVOA.
