Watch Micah Parsons beat Tyreek Hill in Fastest...

When most people saw that Dallas Cowboys rookie linebacker Micah Parsons would be going up against Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill in the Pro Bowl’s Fastest Man race, they wondered why Parsons was even part of the competition. Hill, known as the Cheetah, is often considered one of, if not the, fastest men in the league. Hill is also a receiver and Parsons is a linebacker.

The four contenders for the Pro Bowl Skills Competition race were Parsons, Hill, Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb, and Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs. Their 40-yard dash times are as follows:

  • Hill – 4.29 seconds
  • Parsons – 4.39 seconds
  • Diggs – 4.42 seconds
  • Chubb – 4.52 seconds

But, “The Lion” wasn’t going down without a fight. Parsons even tweeted about the race before the competition hinting that he would win. This kid just doesn’t like to lose.

In what was oddly a very chilly Las Vegas setting, Parsons “humbly” decided to enter the race shirtless. Maybe the distraction was part of his tactic? As the four Pro Bowlers lined up at the start, Hill decided to not even take a runner’s stance. Perhaps the most impressive part was Parsons’ reaction time. He took off the second that he heard the starting sound.

Once Hill realized he got a slow start, he virtually gave up halfway through. From there it was incredibly close between Chubb and Parsons. You can watch the race below.

Whether it was the decision to go shirtless or the rookie’s hatred of losing, Parsons shocked many with his performance. Parsons decided to give Hill credit, though. The Cowboy said he knows the Cheetah just played in a game a couple of days ago, so he wasn’t giving his best. The rookie admitted that he still knows Hill is the fastest man in the league.

Parsons also said he does “want a Madden 95-speed, though.” Maybe the fact that Parsons was just named the 2022 Madden Rookie of the Year could help his chances at getting that speed change.

Parsons also told Lisa Salters that Chubb challenged him before the race. The rookie doesn’t seem like the kind of guy you want to challenge. On the talk with Chubb, Parsons said:

“You know he challenged me. And the lion was hungry. You know what I mean? I can’t back down from no challenge. Nick wanted it so he got it.”

You have to love the competitive edge this young star has. Parsons, Diggs, CeeDee Lamb, and Bryan Anger (Zack Martin and Tyron Smith chose to sit out due to injuries) will all be representing the Cowboys and the NFC in the NFL Pro Bowl in Las Vegas on Sunday. You can watch the game on ESPN at 3 p.m. EST.
